CNHTC joins hands with Shanxi Beiyu on vehicle conversion

DATONG, Shanxi – China National Heavy-Duty Truck Co. (CNHTC) signed an agreement with Datong Beiyu New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. for “fuel vehicle to gas vehicle conversion” cooperation on October 12, reported

According to Yu Youde, vice president of CNHTC, the company is the first enterprise in China that developed natural gas engines. Its natural gas engine jointly developed with the EControls of the U.S has been among the most advanced natural gas engines in China, said Yu.

Datong Beiyu, as a special-purpose vehicle manufacturer, has entered the top 10 of China’s special-purpose vehicle market after several years of development.

Yu said the cooperation of the two companies is of significant meaning for Shanxi Province, as it is abundant with resources and a large market volume of heavy-duty trucks. CNHTC will provide relevant technology and auto parts and Beiyu will be in charge of vehicle conversion. The two parties will also establish service centers respectively and ensure safe operation of the converted vehicles.

Beiben starts construction of 100,000 Yuchai engine project

BAOTOU, Inner Mongolia – Baotou Beiben Heavy-Duty Truck Co., Ltd. (Beiben) started the construction of its 100,000 units Yuchai engine project on October 12 in Baotou, reported

The project will fill the blank of engine production in Inner Mongolia and also end the history of not making engines by heavy-duty truck makers in Inner Mongolia,

Covering an area of 306,666 square meters, the engine project has a total investment of ¥1.51 billion ($242 million) which is jointly injected by Beiben, Baotou Beifang Chuangye Co., Ltd., Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. and Y&C Engine Co., Ltd.

Beiben signed a cooperation agreement with Guangxi Yuchai on May 30 to establish the Baotou Beiben Yuchai Engine Co., Ltd. for heavy-duty truck engine production. The project will mainly produce YC6L, YC6MK, and YC6K series diesel and gas engines. The three-phase project will achieve a production capacity of 100,000 units after putting into production with estimated annual output revenue of ¥7 billion.

Except Beiben, all the top eight heavy-duty truck makers have their own independent engine plants. The project this time will enable Beiben to own its engine production facility.

Yuchai and Weichai Power dominate the diesel engine market in South and North China respectively. The new engine project with Benben will help Yuchai expand its business to the north part of the country.
